“Research shows that participating in music, singing and dance reduces stress levelslowers anxietyboosts the immune systemelevates moodbenefits posture, and facilitates rapid social bonding.”

Tonight students in the school dance groups will perform at the Kurrunulla Dance Festival at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre. We wish them good luck for all their performances.

Year 5 Canberra and Snowy Mountains Camp

Students in Year 5 will soon be undertaking an education tour of the national capital. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

A camp meeting has been organised to provide parents and students with an overview of the activities that students will be undertaking while on camp. Parents and students will have the chance to ask any questions they have regarding the camp.

The camp meeting will take place on Monday 16th September at 6:30pm in the school hall. It is highly recommended that students attend with their parents so they are aware of the itinerary and expectations on camp.

Year 2 Ambulance Visit

Paramedics 1

Paramedics 2

C:\Users\thughes32\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Word\Paramedics 3.jpg

In Week 5 on Wednesday 21st August, Ryan Kennedy came in to Cronulla Public School to tell all of Year 2 what paramedics do to save people’s lives. They put patients in the ambulance and take them to the hospital if they are in danger or seriously injured. If the person is not so injured, the paramedics will just fix them on the spot.

Ryan brought in lots of bandages and taught Year 2 how to use them. Then Year 2 went to the side oval and Ryan showed us his ambulance and how to use his equipment. Then we got to go inside the ambulance.

Division 2 PSSA Soccer Report

Mr Dean had the privilege of coaching the Division 2 Soccer Teams to their weekly matches every Friday. The season was filled with not only individual improvements but more pleasingly with improved team performances. All players represented themselves, their families and Cronulla Public School to the highest level which made for enjoyable experiences regardless of the result. It was a credit the players who turned up week in week out striving to do their best on and off the field. Cronulla Public School were extremely unlucky not to progress to the final in both Senior and Junior competitions. A number of washouts along with other match results not falling our way meant that we missed out on both finals on goal difference. Mr Dean is already looking forward to next year and is hopeful that both teams can improve on their 2019 season.

Thank you to the family and friends who turned up each week to not only deliver Mr Dean a coffee but to support both teams during their matches.

Mr Dean

Division 4 PSSA Soccer Report

It was a fantastic season this year for the Division 4 Soccer Teams. They showed great improvements throughout the season in their individual skills and overall teamwork. There were plenty of brilliant goals and defensive efforts which made the games a pleasure to coach and watch. The teams represented Cronulla Public School excellently and should be proud of their efforts. The Junior Team unfortunately missed out on the finals this year, but showed exemplary sportsmanship and improved their skills ready to try again next year. The Senior Team went undefeated throughout the season, bringing home the winner’s trophy to Cronulla Public School.

Congratulations to the students in the Division 4 Soccer teams and thank you to all the parents and family members that supported them throughout the season.
